The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (UAEICP) has unveiled a significant update for Emirates ID holders, aimed at enhancing convenience and efficiency.

The latest directive from the authority stipulates that any adjustments to residency details will now automatically trigger a request for a replacement Emirates ID card, according to a report by Gulf News.

The UAEICP has also taken steps to simplify the process for residents to modify their Emirates ID card information.

In a move that prioritizes customer ease, this initiative seeks to facilitate changes to identification data for UAE residents. The following key features of this development highlight the newfound simplicity:

  1. Online Emirates ID Updates: UAE residents can now conveniently update their Emirates ID details online through the user-friendly digital platforms provided by the authority. These platforms include the official website and a dedicated smart application.
  2. Comprehensive Residency Modifications: The updates encompass various changes, from personal data adjustments to professional titles, and even updates in passport information. This streamlining extends to modifications in nationality following the acquisition of a new citizenship.
  3. Effortless Access: Accessing these services has been made uncomplicated. Individuals can log in to the authority’s website or the UAEICP smart application using their UAE Pass or username credentials. Once logged in, users can input the necessary application details and proceed to make payments as required.
  4. In-Person Options: For those who prefer in-person assistance, authorized customer happiness centers and approved typing offices are available as alternative avenues for these services.

To initiate the process, applicants will need to provide the following documents:

  • A colored personal photograph
  • A copy of their passport
  • A sponsor’s signed data amendment request
  • Copies of both sides of the Emirates ID card

Application Fee and Refund Policy:

The application fee for this service is AED200, comprising AED100 for smart services, AED50 for application processing, and AED50 for e-services and federal authority fees. It’s crucial to note that incomplete or incorrect documentation will result in the rejection of the application within 30 days.

Applications returned three times due to the same reasons will also face rejection. If an application is rejected, only the issuance fees and applicable financial guarantees will be refunded. Refunds will be issued within six months of the application date to the original credit card. Alternatively, eligible banks within the country can arrange checks or bank transfers for a five-year redemption window.

It’s important to be aware that these regulations are subject to change without prior notification, as emphasized by the authority.

In conclusion, the UAEICP’s recent updates pave the way for a more seamless process for UAE residents to update their Emirates ID details. With user-friendly digital platforms and straightforward guidelines, individuals can now easily manage changes in their identification data.
